NHL Recent Player News
|1/23/2017||Corey Crawford, Chi, G|
|Crawford made 26 saves to help the Blackhawks to Sunday's 4-2 win over Vancouver.
Analysis: It's a nice return to form for the usually reliable goaltender, who had allowed 12 goals in losing two of his previous three assignments. Crawford is 6-4-1 with a 2.99 GAA and a .905 save percentage in 11 starts since returning from an appendectomy last month.
|1/23/2017||Drew Stafford, Wpg, RW|
|A lower-body injury will keep Stafford out of action Monday.
Analysis: It's uncertain if he will return before the All-Star break.
|1/23/2017||Marian Hossa, Chi, RW|
|Hossa recorded his 400th point in a Blackhawks uniform by sealing Sunday's 4-2 win over Vancouver with an empty-net goal.
Analysis: After going 10 straight games without a goal, Hossa has now scored in back-to-back contests and has five points over his last three outings - all Chicago wins. The 38-year-old is a plus-6 during the winning streak.
|1/23/2017||Jonathan Toews, Chi, C|
|Toews delivered his best performance of the season in Sunday's win over Vancouver, in which the Chicago captain compiled a goal and three assists while finishing a plus-4.
Analysis: Toews entered the matchup having produced only two assists while going a minus-3 over his previous six games, and Sunday's goal was just his eighth in 40 contests this season. Perhaps this display will lead to the breakout owners have been waiting for from the All-Star center in what's been a disappointing offensive campaign.
|1/23/2017||Claude Giroux, Phi, C|
|Giroux halted a 12-game goal drought by scoring 3:20 into overtime in Sunday's win over the Islanders.
Analysis: The goal was only the second in the Philadelphia captain's last 19 games. Giroux has still been able to contribute as a distributor, having registered seven assists in the Flyers' 10 games this month.
|1/23/2017||Nick Leddy, NYI, D|
|Leddy continued his recent offensive surge with a goal in Sunday's overtime loss to Philadelphia.
Analysis: The defenseman's 10 points (four goals, six assists) over the last 11 games trail only John Tavares for the most among Islanders players during that span. Leddy is now up to eight goals this season, two short of his career high set in 2014-15.
|1/23/2017||Kyle Turris, Ott, C|
|Turris scored his 17th goal Sunday.
Analysis: He played in his 500th NHL game and became the 1,505th player in league history to reach that milestone.
|1/23/2017||Zack Smith, Ott, C|
|Smith had two goals with an assist Sunday.
Analysis: He had one point in his previous four games.
|1/23/2017||Thomas Greiss, NYI, G|
|Greiss came up with 44 saves despite being dealt a tough-luck 3-2 overtime loss by Philadelphia on Sunday.
Analysis: Greiss entered the matchup off back-to-back shutouts and continues to provide the Islanders with solid work between the pipes. The German is 6-2-3 with a 1.98 goals-against average and a .942 save percentage over his last 11 starts, yielding two goals or less in nine of those assignments.
|1/23/2017||Mike Hoffman, Ott, LW|
|Hoffman had two goals Sunday.
Analysis: He has seven goals over a seven-game stretch.
|1/23/2017||Alexander Wennberg, Cls, C|
|Wennberg had three assists Sunday.
Analysis: He has two points in his previous nine games.
|1/23/2017||Cam Atkinson, Cls, RW|
|Atkinson's second goal of the game at 1:09 of overtime gave the Columbus Blue Jackets a 7-6 win over the Ottawa Senators on Sunday night.
Analysis: Atkinson's 23 goals are four shy of the career high he set last season.
|1/23/2017||Brayden Schenn, Phi, C|
|Schenn contributed a pair of assists to the Flyers' 3-2 overtime win over the Islanders on Sunday.
Analysis: Though he's gone three straight games without a goal after scoring in four straight earlier this month, Schenn is on a nice 12-game stretch in which he's had six goals and five assists. Most of his production still comes from power-play situations, though, with 11 of his 15 goals and 18 of his 32 points recorded with the man advantage.
|1/23/2017||Steve Mason, Phi, G|
|Mason got back on track with a sharp 36-save effort in the Flyers' 3-2 overtime win at the Islanders on Sunday.
Analysis: Mason had gone 0-5-2 with a poor 3.98 goals-against average and an .850 save percentage in seven starts since earning his last win on Dec. 21. While Sunday's performance was a positive sign, fantasy owners may want to hold off on reinserting him into daily lineups until he can demonstrate a little more consistency.
|1/23/2017||Dylan Larkin, Det, C|
|Larkin will reportedly miss two games with an upper-body injury.
Analysis: The Wings update Larkin's status after this weekend's All-Star festivities.
|1/23/2017||Matt Murray, Pit, G|
|Murray made 44 saves to win his fourth straight game, 5-1 over Boston on Sunday.
Analysis: He has stopped 90 of 93 shots in his past three starts.
|1/23/2017||Sidney Crosby, Pit, C|
|Crosby scored his league-leading 28th goal and added two assists Sunday.
Analysis: His 54 points are tied for second in the league heading into Monday's action.
|1/23/2017||Wayne Simmonds, Phi, RW|
|Simmonds had a goal and an assist to help the Flyers rally for Sunday's 3-2 overtime win over the Islanders.
Analysis: Philadelphia's All-Star Game representative had been quiet lately, generating just one goal and two assists over his previous 10 games. Simmonds is still having a fine fantasy season, amassing team highs of 19 goals and 76 penalty minutes along with 17 assists.
|1/23/2017||Bryan Rust, Pit, RW|
|Rust had a goal with two assists Sunday.
Analysis: He has seven points over a four-game stretch.
|1/23/2017||Evgeni Malkin, Pit, C|
|Malkin had two assists Sunday.
Analysis: He has 11 points during a seven-game point streak.
